The Ultralight Pliers have been a staple for us since 2006. In 2010 we improved the original design by replacing the external spring with an internal one and augmented operating tension. The Ultralight Pliers are an angler favorite for steelhead fishing and those colder times where gloves are preferred on the water.
Features:

Love these pliers. Crazy light, nice and compact, with tons of functionality. I don’t find myself using hemostats or pliers very often when I’m on the water, so these are perfect. I forget they’re even there until I need them. Grips are nice and the hold is great. The grip to disengage is nice, being a lefty, most standard pliers are difficult to manipulate, and these get around that issue completely.
Scissors, flat front for smashing barbs, serrated back for the heavy lifting, and an eye clearing spike. Everything you need in a tool like this.

These are my go-to hemostats. Nice and lightweight. I like that towards the tip is flat and then the other portion has the “grabbing ridges.” The spring and locking mechanism function perfectly. Grip is solid and comfortable. The only thing I didn’t like was the eye clearing spike. I had the misfortune of catching some flesh in that thing and as you can imaging, that was quite unpleasant. I just cut it off and filed it down flush. If I lost these on the river, or elsewhere, I would buy again without hesitation.
